Battered Moonlight
Battered Moonlight is made from paper mache over steel
(painted in white acrylic/latex), approximately 21 inches across. If you like,
you can think of it as an 11-holed, 6-edged, 1-sided surface, with chiral
icosahedral symmetry. The above view looks down a 3-fold axis.
Looking down a 5-fold axis, it appears like this:
The steel (hardware cloth) framework, before I applied the paper mache,
looked like this:
The title comes from a poem by Elizabeth Bishop, The Man-Moth.
