Violinist
Violinist Corey Cerovsek's graceful mastery of the violin, thoughtful interpretations and dramatic stage presence have earned him a loyal international following in the classical music world over the last 13 years. His stylistic flexibility and passionate enthusiasm have attracted the attention of conductors such as Mehta, Dutoit, Litton, Levi, Pinnock, Comissiona, Worby, Tilson Thomas, Davis, Jarvi, Comet, Lopez-Cobos and Alsop. He has performed in the United States with the orchestras of Philadelphia, San Francisco, Cincinnati, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Buffalo, Baltimore, Colorado, Detroit, Milwaukee, Atlanta, Phoenix, San Diego, Denver, Kansas City, Utah and the New World Symphony, and internationally with the Israel Philharmonic, Iceland Symphony, Prague Symphony, National Symphony Orchestra (Ireland), Hong Kong Philharmonic, Residentie Orkest of the Hague, Berlin Symphony, Sydney and Melbourne Symphonies (Australia), Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Winnipeg Symphony, Vancouver Symphony, Bournemouth Symphony, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Toronto Symphony and National Arts Centre Orchestra, among others. In recital, Corey has performed throughout the United States and Canada. He performs regularly at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, and Italy's Spoleto Festival. Other recital credits include Lincoln Center's Walter Reade Theatre and tile Frick Collection in New York, SUNY Purchase, the Place des Artes in Montreal, the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra "Debut Series," and the Spoleto Festival in Charleston and in Italy. He has toured Australia, Canada, Denmark, Japan, China, Austria, and the Netherlands. Following summer performances that included appearances internationally with Austria's Pannonische Philharmonie, Italy's Spoleto Festival, and Austria's St. Gallen Chamber Festival, Corey Cerovsek's 2000-2001 season has him performing throughout the United States as well as in New Zealand, Israel and Europe. Fall international engagements include orchestral performances with New Zealand's Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, and a fourcity recital tour of Switzerland including stops in Bulle, Geneva, Lausanne, and Le Chaud de Fonds. Fall North American concerts include the Peoria Symphony, Winnipeg Symphony and Lexington Philharmonic orchestras and recitals at Purdue University, Western Washington University, as well as the Ventura Chamber Music Festival. Spring 2001 international performances include the Berlin Symphony Orchestra and Spain's Real Filharmonica Orchestra. U.S. spring engagements include orchestral performances with the symphonies of Long Beach, Toledo, Forth Worth, Huntsville, the Tulsa Philharmonic, the Oklahoma City Philharmonic and the Emory Symphony Orchestra (GA) with recitals in Florida, North Carolina and Connecticut. On the television front, Corey has been featured twice on NBC's Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and Jay Leno, on the David Frost Show in England, on the PBS special Musical Encounters and on CBS's Sunday Morning. His recording Corey Cerovsek Plays Wieniawski, made with pianist Katja Cerovsek for the Delos label, received critical acclaim. Additional releases on the Delos label include Mozart Adagios and Russian Soul, both with the Moscow Chamber Orchestra. Born in 1972 in Vancouver, Canada, Corey began his violin
studies at the age of five. At age nine, he won the grand prize over 3,000
other musicians in the Canadian Music Competition. He graduated at age
12 from the University of Toronto's Royal Conservatory of Music with a
gold medal for the highest marks in strings. That same year, he was accepted
by Josef Gingold as a student and enrolled at Indiana University, where
he received a bachelor's degree in mathematics and music at age 15, masters
in both at 16, and completed his doctoral course work in mathematics and
music at age 18.

made by Joseph Guarneri del Gesu of Cremona in 1735. The violin is on extended
loan to Corey Cerovsek from the Stradivari Society of Chicago, whose purpose
is to unite the world's greatest instruments with the world's most talented
and deserving artists.
