(2) Curved lines in nature There are many of these curved lines found in nature. Strings of plants, outlines and the curved surfaces of flowers, and shapes of animals are examples. Especially, the bodies of fishes and birds which need to move at a high speed have a beautiful stream line. A human body has many beautiful curves. The rise and fall of a young female body is especially beautiful. There are Hiraganas, glass craftworks, and so on in the artificial things with beautiful curves. Because shapes like the above examples have feelings
of simplicity and order, the appearances are close to geometrical configurations.
However, the configurations have some differences in content and structure
from geometrical configurations. This is because they have minute variations
in curvatures which can not be expressed by numerical formulas compared
to the geometrical configurations. In other words, because they are rich
in change, there is no hardness like a geometrical configuration. They
are straightforward, and have feelings of fulfillment and sharpness. It
is important that these curves are naturally continued. The term stream
line is close to this, and it makes us feel speed and sharpness. They are
the organic configurations which have rich and smooth outlines.
