(2) Expression of rhythm by similar shapes

Expression of movement is very easily expressed if we are allowed to change the size of the same shape.

Although the two works on the left use only circles, both of them express rhythm very effectively, and have an element of strong movement. 

In Figure 486, a free and present rhythm is composed. An order which can be easily understood is created by vertically splitting the surface into three parts. 

Regularity is further strengthened in Figure 487, a rhythm with a strong feeling of unity comes from the geometrical order.

Figure 488 is configured using elements which are aligned to vertical and horizontal directions. In addition, it is composed using a constrictive structure like an architecture, which gives it a rather stiff rhythm.

In general, it is extremely easy to compose rhythm using similar shapes, in other words, shapes which have different sizes but the same shape.
