Illusion of the three dimensions (B) 4 Expression of transparency
I have used the fonts called "Caslon Shadow" for design. The thick part of the characters is a white cutout and they are outlined by lines (Fig. 434) Then, I thought that a sense of shadow was felt since the right hand side black lines of a thick vertical part of a character is thicker than the left side black line. But, because I strongly felt a feeling of transparency at the vacancy of the character, I though that this character should be called Caslon·Transparency. I have a present memory when I found "transparent character" in addition to "transparency", "transparent nature", "degree of transparency", and others inside the meanings of transparency. Other than these, transparent paintings, transparent
textile, transparent patterns of pottery, and others are also found. They
are all called transparency in English.
