(7) Overlapping

If shape B is behind shape A, a part of shape B is hidden. If this situation which is easily understood is described on a plane, a relative positional relationship can be generated between the two shapes.

· The two techniques of "overlapping" ("piling") and "concentration" are both utilized in Figure 406. The techniques of "overlapping", "concentration", and "envelope" are used in Figure 407. Both the "piling" and "radial lines" are used simultaneously in Figure 408. A strong three-dimensional emotion is described though patterns drawn only on a plane.
